Mechanical Design Manager
You will play a key role in the development of Risk-Reduced Product (RRP) devices, focusing on HTS device maintenance and the activation of a second Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) partner to support category growth. Leveraging your mechanical design expertise, you will lead development activities and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver against Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets.
As a Mechanical Design Manager, you will:
- Provide the necessary expertise in Mechanical Engineering, choosing right materials and production methods to develop technical solutions and deliver acceptable products/prototypes in line with project objectives and business requirements.
- Ensure that the overall mechanical design, component layouts and other materials reflects product technical requirements and are appropriately specified with associated tolerances.
- Execute the modification / maintenance of product specification on mechanical design field to conduct the corrective action preventive action (CAPA) and engineering change order/engineering change request (ECO/ECR), and Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives.
- Execute the device development on mechanical design field, especially 2nd EMS activation of HTS device ensuring Quality, Cost, & Delivery (QCD) through Design Validation Test (DVT), and Product Validation Test (PVT) with EMS as well as Design for Manufacturing (DFM) with each component suppliers.
- Manage various tasks and projects as they arise and upon engineering director and group manager’s request.
- Establish strong relationship with engineers of relevant functions (QA, sourcing etc.) through the tasks and project.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of product development experience as a mechanical engineer in a variety of R&D product/material development roles or other related experience. At least 10 years hands-on experience in consumer electronics product development and competence in how to bring designs to mass manufacturing partners is a must.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to effectively translate complex technical concepts to others. Japanese/Chinese language proficiency is considered an advantage.
- Strong experience in design & development of consumer electronics products, Mechanical / Industrial construction, Mechanical Material Specifications, BOM Creation, Industrial Design, Novel Material Technology, Design Reviews, Testing & Design Verification/Validation, Intellectual Property.
- Good knowledge and experience in 3D-CAD and 2D drawing software.
- Demonstrated experience and capability in DFM and Design to Cost via Value Analysis or Value Engineering (VA/VE)
- Bachelor or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or closely related major with scientific/engineering discipline, or equivalent scientific ability based on relevant experience and education.
