Country Security Manager South Africa
What this position is about – Purpos
The Country Corporate Security Manager is the security lead for JTI South Africa, delegated by the Corporate Security Cluster Manager. Working closely with the General Manager, People & Culture Director, and local leadership, the role provides security strategy, oversight, and support across all JTI operations and projects in South Africa, and when required, in Angola and the DRC.
This position ensures a risk-based, cost-effective approach that contributes to business operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting risk assessments, crisis management, and personnel security (executive, travel, and events).
- Leading market security teams, developing physical security programs, audits, background checks, due diligence, and investigations.
- Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders, law enforcement, intelligence, and security agencies.
- Supporting regional security initiatives in Southeast Africa when required.
What will you do - Responsibilities:
- Risk & Crisis Management: Lead country security processes, maintain the Security Risk Register, support crisis response, investigations, and training.
- People & Asset Security: Oversee programs to protect staff, executives, visitors, and assets; provide travel/security support, audits, assessments, and supply chain protection.
- Investigations: Conduct objective inquiries into security-related incidents in coordination with Compliance, Legal, P&C, and other functions.
- Networking: Build strong internal relationships with local leadership and global teams; maintain external networks with law enforcement, security agencies, and industry associations.
- Financial Management: Develop and manage security budgets, oversee vendor contracts, and ensure efficient use of resources.
- Talent Management: Actively participate in CS Talent Development initiatives.
Whom are we looking for – Requirements:
- Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in security/risk management, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or related field.
- Relevant certifications preferred (CPP, PSP, PCI).
- 5–10 years’ experience in military, law enforcement, intelligence, or corporate security.
- Proficient in English (additional Local languages an advantage).
- Strong report writing, presentation, and MS Office skills.
- Knowledge of security management systems, incident reporting, and data analysis tools is a plus
