Quality Assurance Inspector - Hawassa
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team and play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the quality standards of our products and services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
About the Role
As a Quality Assurance Inspector, you will be responsible to inspect and test the quality of leaf, packed leaf products (lamina and by-products), and Non-Tobacco Materials (NTM) to ensure compliance with JTI quality standards throughout butt-cut leaf processing. The role is also responsible for monitoring and controlling product infestation, Non-Tobacco Related Material (NTRM), and oil contamination to safeguard product integrity, as well as collecting, managing, and shipping samples according to sampling instructions for product qualification and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. NTM and Process Monitoring
- Verify the quality of Non-Tobacco Materials (NTM), including C-48 and C-96 cartons, kraft papers, and PE materials, against specifications before release for packaging operations.
- Inspect processing units, including conveyors, motors, screening shakers, and pressing areas, to identify contamination and ensure product integrity.
- Check leaf quality to ensure it is free from mold, NTRM contamination, and oil contamination before use.
2. Quality Equipment Performance Management
- Conduct daily performance checks of quality equipment before testing to prevent measurement deviations.
- Plan and coordinate equipment cleaning, maintenance, and repairs in the event of failures.
- Lead the annual calibration process of quality equipment before the start of each crop-year processing season.
3. Sample Testing and Reporting
- Collect and test samples according to sampling instructions to ensure product consistency throughout processing.
- Accept, refeed, or reject products based on measurement results and provide continuous feedback to operators to maintain product quality.
- Analyze measurement results and initiate improvement actions to drive continuous process improvement.
4. Sample Preparation and Dispatching
- Collect and prepare samples in accordance with internal and global procedures.
- Coordinate the timely shipment of samples to various JTI units.
- Track sample deliveries and maintain shipment records to ensure compliance with global sample shipment requirements.
5. Other Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties and assignments as directed by line management.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
- Educational background Chemical engineering, process engineering, or industrial engineering from a recognized university.
- 2- years experience in the manufacturing industry
- Proven experience in quality inspection or quality assurance roles, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to detect subtle quality issues.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures, inspection tools, and measurement techniques.
- Good organisational and record-keeping skills with a methodical approach to work.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with team members and management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under minimal supervision.
