AGRONOMY PROTECTION TECHNICIAN 

Objective

Under the supervision of the Agronomy Supervisor, the role is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing pest and disease control activities across crops while ensuring strict adherence to safety standards in handling and applying crop protection chemicals.  

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise pest, insect, and disease control activities across nurseries, fields, and storage areas.
• Ensure availability and proper use of chemicals, spraying equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain accurate records of chemical usage, grower loans, and ensure timely reporting.
• Track and reconcile crop protection agents (CPA), manage inventory, and maintain stock control systems.
• Follow spray schedules and implement pest control measures while observing pre-harvest intervals to prevent residue risks.
• Conduct inspections of nurseries, fields, and warehouses to identify and respond to pest and disease threats.
• Promote preventive agronomic practices, including use of quality seedlings and adherence to agronomic standards.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and labor practices in all operations.
• Supervise field staff (e.g., pest assessors, sprayers) and oversee reporting accuracy.
• Carry out additional tasks and projects assigned by management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Crop Protection, Plant Science, or related field.
• 0 years (for Bachelor’s degree holders), or Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (for Diploma holders).
• Intermediate English (written and spoken).
• Basic proficiency in MS Office.
• Knowledge of safety policies, labor regulations, and internal procedures.
