Digital Data Manager 

 

The Digital Operations and Data Governance team, based in Geneva, is a growing centre of excellence within the Ploom Brand Group, committed to building a modern global brand through impactful digital consumer experiences.To support this ambition, we are seeking a highly capable and collaborative Digital Data Manager to help lead our digital data governance agenda — a critical enabler of personalized, high-performing, and compliant digital marketing.

 

This newly created role serves as a strategic driver of global data governance, supporting the Global Data Owner in translating enterprise-wide governance strategy into tangible, operational practices. The scope spans digital platforms, global functions, regional enforcers, and local markets — ensuring alignment, consistency, and accountability across the full digital data lifecycle.

The role is pivotal to unlocking the full value of digital marketing by ensuring that the underlying data is clean, structured, standardized, and responsibly governed.

While not a hands-on technical position, in this role you will be expected to bring deep expertise in data structure and taxonomy, coupled with strong business ownership and coordination skills. Success in this role depends on effective collaboration with D&IT technical teams, global functional data stewards, regional digital leads, and local data stewards in Ploom markets — embedding governance principles seamlessly and at scale across the organization.

Position:


As Digital Data Manager, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

 

Data Strategy and Use Case Enablement:  

  • Develop and implement data strategies that support the business objectives and improve consumer personalization.
  • Enable D2C, B2B2C and other offline use cases, ensuring that data strategies align with business needs.
  • Monitor the value of each use case and provide insights to drive business decisions and improvements.

 

Operationalize the Global Data Governance Framework: 

  • Act as the executional arm of the Global Data Owner by translating the data governance strategy into actionable plans. This includes identifying Global Critical Data, validating Local Critical Data, and ensuring the design, documentation, and deployment of global data standards, taxonomy, quality rules, and TO BE maintenance processes across the digital ecosystem.

 

Drive Data Quality and Remediation Across Markets: 

  • Coordinate “Get Clean” and “Stay Clean” initiatives by mobilizing Regional Data Enforcement and supporting local data stewards to ensure remediation and continuous monitoring of Global Critical Data.
  • Oversee adherence to quality KPIs, escalate issues, and support improvements to ensure structured and trusted data powers digital marketing and operations.

 

Support Local Governance Integration and Enablement:

  • Provide clear frameworks, toolkits, and guidance for markets to build or enhance their local governance practices in alignment with the global model.
  • Facilitate the seamless integration of local data into global platforms, ensuring consistency while accommodating market-specific needs. optimal outcomes.
  • Commits to and improves team agreements, also participates by own initiative in multi-functional projects/activities.

 

Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management for Data Governance: 

  • Act as the central coordination point between key stakeholders, including various teams within Ploom Brand Group, DES Accelerate project teams across workstreams, Global SI, D&IT Data & Analytics, D&IT Global Delivery Center (GDC) and Local market data stewards and owners.
  • Ensure alignment, engagement, and clear communication across all governance activities, acting as a trusted partner and change enabler within the broader data ecosystem.


Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Governance, Digital Marketing, Business Analytics, or a related area, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred
  • JTI Market experience is a must, including minimum 1 year in Ploom
  • 3+ years of hands on experience in data governance, digital data operations, or enterprise data management.
  • Proven experience working in multi-functional and multi-market environments, with exposure to marketing, IT, analytics, or platform governance
  • Experience supporting data initiatives in digital marketing or consumer engagement platforms, with understanding of data flows between Martech/Adtech, analytics, CRM, and reporting systems
  • Data and AI Experience: Strong business experience in data and analytics, business intelligence, data management, or related fields
  • Experience with data governance frameworks, content management systems (CMS), and marketing automation platforms
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations, such as GDPR, and data compliance best practices
  • Excellent English language skill is a must
  • Strong analytical mindset, with experience in using data to inform decision-making and performance optimization
  • Co-create and manage product roadmaps ensuring timely delivery and continuous improvement of data and analytics solutions
