Technology Exploration & Innovation Manager
Why does this role exist?
The Technology Exploration & Innovation Manager supports the exploration and development of next-generation nicotine technologies and novel delivery platforms. The role combines scientific technology scouting, inhalation and drug-delivery science, consumer and pharmacokinetic evaluation, experimental planning and external innovation. It translates emerging science and data into actionable recommendations for global Research & Development innovation projects and future product platforms.
What will you actually do?
- Identify and evaluate novel nicotine-delivery technologies, inhalation platforms, nicotine analogs and next-generation active ingredients to build a credible pipeline of innovation opportunities
- Develop experimental approaches, assess study feasibility and interpret scientific data to generate robust evidence and recommendations for global Research & Development projects
- Support consumer-experience, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic evaluations and delivery-performance assessments across dry-powder, soft-mist, nasal and other emerging systems
- Coordinate scientific work with contract research organizations, start-ups, academic groups and other external partners to access specialist capabilities and deliver agreed innovation outcomes
- Conduct literature reviews and competitive intelligence, synthesize findings and communicate clear conclusions to multidisciplinary and international stakeholders
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams and share scientific knowledge with colleagues
- Support additional innovation tasks and projects as priorities evolve and upon the manager’s request
Who are we looking for?
- Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Delivery, Biomedical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Pharmacology or a related discipline
- More than five years of experience in Research & Development, drug delivery, pharmaceutical development or innovation
- Experience in inhalation drug delivery is highly desirable
- Experience with inhalation products, aerosols, powders or respiratory delivery is desirable
- Knowledge of nicotine science or neuropharmacology is desirable
- Experience working with contract research organizations, start-ups or academic collaborators is desirable
- Experience with pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic research, brain imaging or autonomic-response clinical studies is desirable
- Excellent written and spoken English for scientific communication and effective collaboration in international and multidisciplinary teams
- Scientific technology-scouting, literature-review and competitive-intelligence capabilities
- Knowledge of inhalation technologies and novel delivery systems
- Experience in experimental design, study planning and scientific-data interpretation
- Ability to support consumer-experience and pharmacokinetic evaluations
- Ability to coordinate external partners and deliver multiple projects
- Curiosity, learning agility and clear scientific communication
- A collaborative approach that demonstrates empathy, knowledge sharing, ownership, consumer focus, openness to challenge and responsible decision-making
