During the program you will rotate across several leaf processing locations around the world, offering you the opportunity to learn and understand our leaf business in a short timeframe.

What do we offer?

  • Your first assignment will take you to Bangladesh where you will spend around 12 months. Bangladesh is our most recent acquisition in JTI and therefore brings a wealth of exciting projects and opportunities for learning.

We would like to emphasize that Bangladesh is considered a hardship location. While we provide additional support to our employees and their families who are assigned to a hardship location, you must feel comfortable being assigned to such a location.

What will you actually do?

You will be part of the Leaf team in Bangladesh and will have an opportunity to be exposed to a variety of tasks and projects. The main focus of your assignment is to understand how JTI operates and understand our Leaf business, in detail you will:

  • Understand the newly acquired Leaf operations in Bangladesh
  • Learn how we execute growing and extension programs
  • Get involved in the planning, contracting and planting phase of our crops
  • Work with local farmers and provide supply to them. You will work closely with the local farmers throughout the crop cycle.
  • Understand the financial side of our crops
  • Learn about crop estimation and quality of crop
  • Understand the JTI Leaf grading
  • Understand the leaf processing process

 

What are we looking for?

  • You have gained 5-10 years of experience in the agronomy sector
  • You have gained managerial experience in running agricultural programs in subtropical/tropical environments, preferably experienced in tobacco production.
  • You have experience in managing large work forces.
  • You have a tertiary education in Agriculture/Horticulture (Diploma, Degree or equivalent)
  • You have a driver’s license

You as a person:

  • You are a strategic thinker with analytical capabilities. You are at ease when managing and analyzing big data and are comfortable using it as a basis for strategic and tactical decision making. 
  • You have an open mind, thanks to which you can easily adapt to new environments, cultures or ways of working and you feel at ease in times of change.
  • You have excellent communication skills, feel at ease when communicating with / presenting to stakeholders at different levels. You can easily establish and maintain good relationships at all levels.
  • You are a team player who has a strong focus on the development of his/her team members, as well as of the people you interact with frequently.
  • You are fluent in English. You are at ease using the Windows platform and have experience with data base management.
  • You are keen on working abroad and nothing would hold you back in moving around the globe with JTI.
