Consumer & Commercial Strategic Insights Director GTR
Purpose:
The GTR Consumer & Commercial Strategic Insights Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of Global Travel Retail by placing deep consumer and shopper understanding at the heart of strategic and commercial decision-making.
Leading the GTR Strategic Insights agenda, the role partners closely with GTR ExCom, Central Marketing, International Key Accounts and Regional teams to deliver forward-looking insights that unlock growth opportunities, anticipate change and enable confident, future-focused decisions aligned with JTI’s long-term ambitions.
Position:
Shape the future through consumer and shopper insight
- Lead the interpretation of global PAX, shopper and consumer trends, anticipating shifts in behavior across regions and channels
- Provide strategic foresight that informs category strategy, brand equity development and activation excellence in Travel Retail
- Identify emerging opportunities by translating evolving consumer needs into clear commercial and strategic implications
Be a trusted strategic partner to the business
- Act as a thought partner to GTR ExCom and senior stakeholders, elevating discussions with robust, insight-led perspectives
- Lead the design and delivery of best-in-class qualitative and quantitative research programs with clear business impact
- Own and continuously evolve GTR Power BI reporting and TME-linked insights to enable faster, sharper decision-making
Lead data, analytics and digital enablement
- Champion innovative analytics, digital tools and new ways of working in close collaboration with regional teams
- Oversee POS, basket and customer data analysis to support pricing, assortment, launch and portfolio decisions
Inspire people and steward resources
- Build, lead and develop a high-performing, diverse Strategic Insights team, fostering curiosity, impact and collaboration
- Own strategic insights budgets, ensuring disciplined investment, strong prioritization and value creation
Requirements:
- University degree in Market Research, Statistics, Business, Economics, Marketing or a related discipline
- Fluent English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus
- Minimum 10 years of experience in FMCG consumer insights and/or marketing, with strong global and regional exposure
- Proven expertise in qualitative and quantitative research, advanced analytics and insight storytelling
- Multi-market management experience is an advantage
- Strong ability to turn complex, multi-source data into clear, compelling strategic direction
- Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders in cross-functional, multicultural environments
- Travel Retail experience is an advantage
- Multi-market management experience is an advantage
- Ability to travel
