Head of Corporate Affairs
- Fiscal Affairs
- Foresee and monitors the progression of fiscal policy changes, such as excise tax, and delivers a fundamental assessment of their potential consequences.
- Formulates the Excise Tax Strategy, devises the action plan and coordinates additional support from other functions/external partners.
- Develop and execute annual programs related to Excise Tax Strategy implementation, proposes corrections and additions.
- Collaborate with the CA&C Director and pertinent internal departments in execution of fiscal plans as per ASP.
- Frequent communication with the VAT policy, Implementation and Large Taxpayers Unit of National Board of Revenue for the favorable fiscal outcome for JTI.
- Monitor parliamentary proceedings and activities of relevant institutions, analyzing them for management evaluation.
- Develop concise briefing notes, fact sheets, or one-pagers for external communications related to excise related matters.
- Evaluates global experiences and trends in excise tax and other fiscal-related matters, gauges their applicability in the national context, and assesses potential business implications.
- Support in preparation of the annual functional budget in accordance with JTI policies and procedures.
- Provide and collect relevant data to/from NBR on budget/tax simulation and reformation.
- Support for Internal Stakeholders
- Support other Functions (M&S, GSC, Leaf) on the tax/customs issues. Organize meetings, present data and information, facilitate acquisition of necessary permits and certificates.
- Collaborate closely with the Internal Tax Manager on various submissions, hearings, and relevant activities.
- Offer necessary support to the Marketing and Sales teams during different product launches.
- Prepare fiscal campaign materials for internal and external stakeholders including the PR agency.
- External Stakeholder Management
- Foster strategic partnerships with government officials, policymakers, and regulatory agencies by meeting with them to build trust, address potential obstacles, and communicate the company's priorities and programs.
- Maintain strong working relationship with the VAT Policy and implementation team of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to achieve favorable budgetary outcomes.
- Support External and Media Relations Lead in identifying relevant external partners (business associations, NGOs, KOLs) and setting up relationships with them.
- Engage government officials, legislative staff, policy groups, regulators, consumer groups, business partners, journalists covering NBR and industry associations.
- Build solid relationship with all relevant ministries, agencies including the Prime Minister's Office and Cabinet Division to facilitate high-level engagements as needed.
- Foster strong relationships with Tax/Customs regulators and leverage Bangladeshi networks.
- Provide necessary support to AIT team engaging with regional Customs & VAT Commissionerate's.
- Support execution of the internal & external plans including engagement plans such as corporate greetings, Ramadan, and Eid gifts to stakeholders, etc.
- Regulatory Affairs
- Support Corporate Affairs Manage in the development and execution of strategies to address regulatory challenges and advise on engagement opportunities, regulatory content development, regional and global best practices.
- Support defining and promoting a regulatory environment consistent with both JTIs business goals and business principles to ensure that the company can operate successfully and, in a manner, consistent with its beliefs.
- Provide support to all functions on political, regulatory, and trade issues and responses.
- Provide necessary supporting in preparing regulatory advocacy materials.
- Others
- Track the progress of bills and other parliamentary activity - tax and other policies.
- Identify opportunities and draft responses to parliamentary, government and other consultations.
- Act as policy analyst for JTI affected by legislation and determine whether to – support, amend or defeat with guidance from supervisor.
- Ensure company’s operations are in compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Good understanding of Compliance policy, e.g. GHE, Conflict of Interest, Code of Conduct, in dealing with government agencies.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of bachelors required from renowned academic institution.
- Minimum 8 years of professional work experience is required.
- Fluency in Bangla and English (required)
- Functional Skills:
- Information gathering and interpreting: the ability to take on board and understand reams of new Information is a key skill that is required of a Corporate & Fiscal Affairs Manager They have to keep abreast of ever-changing political developments
- Great networking skills: More than for most jobs, networking skills are integral to the role. Corporate & Fiscal Affairs Manager need to possess or hone the ability to confidently approach a diverse range of people and strike up a conversation. This needs to be allied to the ability to stay in touch with and retain contacts
- People management skills: manager needs to manage different team of government officers
- Political acumen: a comprehensive understanding of the political landscape in Bangladesh.
- Knowledge on stakeholder mapping and engagement.
