Packer Mechanic
This position is responsible for providing mechanical maintenance & repair service support within the factory necessary to optimize the efficiency of Cigarette Making Machines.
This encompasses the execution of all activities related to production support, installation, repair, and preventive maintenance undertaken directly by the factory or contracted to third parties.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Packer Mechanic will be responsible for:
- Executing and supporting activities required to achieve the objectives of the cigarette making group (such as production volume, quality, efficiency, waste rate, (MTBF) in accordance with relevant instructions and procedures, and within the framework of Environmental, Health and safety rules.
- Operating machines according to technical manuals and usage instructions, and for ensuring compliance with environmental, health & safety and other production procedures.
- Ensuring that all duties and responsibilities of operators and service operators are fulfilled during vacation, breaks, training, meals, and other necessary situations.
- Monitoring machine downtime & waste, and for taking the necessary and correct actions to reduce downtime/ waste that may cause performance loss.
- Conducting maintenance and repair activities according to plan and for resolving equipment failures.
- Implementing and monitoring all necessary actions to achieve spare parts usage targets
- Ensuring that all required forms for monitoring production performance, product quality, and product traceability as specified in the instructions. Ensure data are logged into QIMS, SDE, shift handover logbook and all SDM inputs (PM cards, defects, CL, CIL, and MP&S Tasks)
- Understand the environmental, health and safety aspects, identify potential hazards, and maintain necessary control measures to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- Develop the necessary skills to perform work safely, participate in EHS trainings, acquire the required knowledge and competencies, and follow safety signs, posters, warning signs, and written instructions.
- Consistently demonstrate safe behavior, report accidents and near-miss incidents to supervisors, report identified unsafe conditions and behaviors and help eliminate these hazards within the scope of authority and capability.
- Ensure adherence to EHS, Energy, and Quality policies, processes, and operational standards, as well as compliance with local laws and regulations governing the workplace and other employees.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
- 2-3 years minimum years’ work experience in Production Environment will be of added advantage.
- MS-Office applications and SAP system knowledge and Intermediate knowledge of SAP production processes
- Fluency in both written and spoken English and Swahili.
- Advanced understanding of production machinery principles & Mechanical Knowledge
- Operational level knowledge of Quality Management & Pest Management
- Advanced product & process knowledge
- Operational knowledge of Environmental, Health and Safety Machine Maintenance System
