IWS Process Lead
Purpose of the role
The IWS (Integrated Work System) Process Lead is responsible for driving continuous improvement and operational excellence within the processing facility by implementing IWS methodologies. The incumbent will focus on eliminating process losses on equipment or areas, support the leaf processing line team to create process standards, and coach using standard tools to perform problem-solving. The process lead is responsible for implementing and/or maintaining, and continuously improving, the daily management systems (DMSs) they own in their area, typically the centerline (CL), changeover (CO) and change management (CM) DMS.
Responsibilities
- Identifies, prioritizes, and eliminates process losses while building process capability and control, and leading benchmarking and reapplication of processes across operations.
- Provides feedback to design and leads the rollout of relevant standards, defines equipment standards, and collaborates with the Cell Lead / Processing Manager to own equipment (EO’s) development of new standards.
- Leads change management and validation processes and drives technical troubleshooting analysis on process failures to ensure sustainable solutions.
- Designs, implements, and maintains systems to collect and analyze data for critical product and process parameters, using this data to identify process losses and work with the cell structure team to prioritize improvement opportunities.
- Eliminates or reduces prioritized losses through changes in the process or work system, using reliability engineering tools to drive center alignment and support loss elimination.
- Participates in the daily DDS process by reporting results, flagging issues, and requesting resources, while sharing and reapplying learnings across processes, modules, and other JTI factories, and preparing and providing training on process and equipment changes.
- Responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving the effectiveness of assigned Daily Management Systems (DMSs) and supporting tools for the Cell, including Centerline (CL), Changeover (CO), and Change Management (CM).
- Applies and sustains supporting tools such as Loss Tree, Initial Problem Solving (IPS), Unified Problem Solving (UPS), 90-day action plans, rate control, and S-Shape and Weibull analysis to drive performance and stability.
- Builds the capability of line teams by enabling self-sufficient teams through training and development in assigned DMSs and tools, strengthening operating teams’ technical understanding and mastery of process control within the assigned Cell, and developing and maintaining standards, including One Point Lessons (OPLs), to support knowledge sharing and process consistency.
- Ensures adherence to EHS standards by monitoring compliance, enforcing safety protocols, and promoting best practices across the facility, while driving a strong safety culture through audits, safety dialogues, and training, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, implementing corrective actions, and continuously improving safety performance.
Requirements
- Degree or similar in business or engineering related subject.
- 3+ years of professional experience in a production environment in a similar role, could be project engineer background.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- proficiency in MS Office, with solid knowledge of production technologies, factory improvement programs, Lean Manufacturing (Kaizen, TPM), ISO/EHS standards, and IWS principles and routines.
- Strong analytical background with a people-focused mindset, demonstrating a passion for continuous improvement and supporting teams in achieving sustainable performance.
