FP&A Associate
Purpose of the Role
The FP&A Associate supports Leaf USA financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and performance analysis to enable data-driven decision-making and ensure operational continuity. The role delivers clear insights into performance, risks, and opportunities while ensuring data accuracy, governance, and effective cross-functional collaboration. Key responsibilities include monthly close support, management reporting, and variance analysis for Leaf USA, as well as support for the annual budget and rolling forecast cycles using a driver-based planning approach. The role also provides inventory continuity support for Green Tobacco and Raw Tobacco and ensures Capex continuity and governance from business case development through post-approval tracking.
Main Areas of Responsibility
Leaf USA FP&A Deliverables – Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities for the US Leaf organization, partnering with Value Stream and cross-functional teams to develop accurate, data-driven financial plans aligned with operational objectives.
- Prepare monthly reporting packs, dashboards, KPI tracking and variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget, Forecast and Prior Year), providing clear insights on business performance, risks, opportunities and key financial drivers.
- Consolidate financial inputs, validate assumptions and perform quality reviews to ensure forecast accuracy, consistency and continuous improvement of planning methodologies.
Financial Accounting
- Support monthly and periodic financial close activities through journal entries, accruals, provisions and account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, IFRS and internal reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate, complete and auditable financial records while supporting internal and external reporting obligations through timely documentation and financial analysis.
Purchase Requisitions & PO Management
- Partner with Operations and Accounting teams to manage purchase requisition and purchase order activities, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies, accurate financial treatment and compliance with company policies.
- Monitor inventory and operational transactions to identify financial risks, unusual movements and forecast-to-actual variances, supporting effective decision-making and financial control.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Execute and maintain SOX-compliant financial processes, key account reconciliations and control activities in accordance with JTI policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
- Support audits, Business Approval Proposals (BAPs), compliance reviews and process improvement initiatives to strengthen financial controls, mitigate risks and ensure audit readiness.
Business Partnership & Continuous Improvement
- Act as a trusted finance business partner to operational stakeholders, supporting decision-making through financial analysis, planning activities and cross-functional collaboration.
- Contribute to digital transformation, process standardization and automation initiatives leveraging tools such as SAP BW, Power BI and Excel to improve efficiency, accuracy and reporting capabilities.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, FP&A or related areas.
- Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and financial analysis.
- Understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations and financial controls.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Power BI, SAP and SAP BW is preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and support business decision-making.
- Fluent English with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
