LOGISTICS CUSTOMS ASSOCIATE
We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Logistics & Customs Associate in Tetouan, Morocco, to join the Manufacturing Services Department and report to the Logistics & Customs Manager.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
As a Logistics & Customs Associate, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of materials and goods. You will manage and closely monitor international and domestic shipments, including leaf, non-tobacco materials, spare parts, machinery, and finished goods. You will coordinate daily logistics activities with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, warehouses, Procurement, Planning, and other stakeholders to ensure deliveries meet agreed timelines and business priorities.
You will coordinate customs clearance activities in compliance with Moroccan customs regulations and import/export requirements. You will liaise with customs brokers and authorities, monitor clearance lead times, and support the resolution of inspections, documentation discrepancies, and regulatory issues. You will verify shipping documents, including invoices, packing lists, Bills of Lading, Air Waybills, EUR certificates, Certificates of Origin, and other required documents, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring audit readiness.
You will maintain shipment tracking tools, prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics and customs reports, and provide stakeholders with accurate shipment visibility. You will also monitor transportation, customs, storage, and clearance costs and coordinate with Finance and Accounting to process logistics-related invoices, resolve discrepancies, and support freight accrual activities.
You will contribute to Logistics, Customs, and Factory KPIs, support continuous improvement and cost-optimization initiatives, and ensure compliance with JTI policies, procedures, internal controls, and applicable trade and transportation regulations. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, share knowledge and best practices, and support the Logistics & Customs team during absences and peak workload periods.
EDUCATION
University degree in Logistics or Business Administration.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3 years of experience in logistics and customs-related fields.
SKILLS
- Supply chain management knowledge
- Good knowledge of Moroccan customs regulations and procedures
- Strong coordination and stakeholder-management skills
- Shipment monitoring and logistics reporting capabilities
- Good understanding of import and export documentation
- Skilled in MS Excel
- SAP knowledge is a plus
- Very good command of English, French and Arabic
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to take ownership, remain accountable, and deliver results
