Tax Manager 

 

 

What this position is about – Purpose: 

 

In this role you will be responsible for overall tax compliance and internal advisory for JTI legal entities in Romania. This includes ensuring the accurate and timely calculation, recording, and declaration of taxes while providing ongoing tax-related support to internal departments. The role also involves overseeing group tax reporting, compliance with legislative changes, and liaising with tax authorities. 

 

What will you do – Responsibilities: 

 

  • Review all tax declarations for accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and ensure timely filing; 

  • Analyse impact of changes in the tax regulations & tax practices on Romanian JTI entities and collaborate with internal stakeholders in the implementation of appropriate changes within the organization;

  • Review contracts, processes and transactions from a tax perspective to ensure compliance with tax legislation & practice and to identify and mitigate potential risks; 

  • Provide ongoing tax advisory to the business and evaluate various business initiatives from a tax compliance standpoint; 

  • Prepare / review group tax reports, including deferred tax calculations; 

  • Manage the annual update of the transfer pricing file; 

  • Communicate and cooperate with tax and customs authorities on tax compliance matters (including preparation of applications for tax rulings); 

  • Provide support with tax audits, proceedings, and other relevant audits; 

  • Provide support for local and global tax projects; 

  • Address tax-related challenges, including compliance with changing regulations, complex organizational processes, and cross-functional support requests. 

 

Who are we looking for – Requirements: 

 

Education: University degree in Economics; 

Work experience: Minimum 5 years of tax experience; 

Language: Romanian and English proficiency; 

Other skills and knowledge:  

  • Advanced tax knowledge in both direct and indirect taxation, tax advisor license will be an advantage; 

  • People management experience; 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work effectively under pressure; 

  • Strong analytical skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail; 

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills; 

  • A proactive approach to work and a continuous learning mindset; 

  • Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel); Accounting and SAP knowledge is a plus.
