Microsoft Software Engineer

 

What this role is about?

 

 The purpose of this role is to provide software engineering support for the Software Engineering Excellence team. The role is responsible for creating and maintaining software architecture guidelines that ensure consistency, scalability, and security across our systems. Additionally, this role involves providing expert architectural guidance, conducting training sessions to enhance the technical skills of our engineering teams, and managing and monitoring their technical progress to ensure alignment with best practices and organizational objectives.

The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering and architectural skills, a continuous learning and improvement mindset, and the ability to build and maintain trustful relationships with IT & business internal stakeholders, software partners and service providers.

 

What will you do?

 

Lead with Technical Excellence:

 

• Architect, design, and implement cutting-edge software solutions that are robust, scalable, and secure, driving the success of our products and services.

• Lead by example in software design, coding practices, and code reviews, setting a high standard for quality and efficiency.

• Take ownership of critical components and ensure their successful delivery within project timelines.

 

Guide and Empower the Team:

 

• Provide hands-on technical guidance, ensuring that junior and mid-level engineers develop their skills and confidence.

• Act as a mediator to resolve conflicts within the team and ensure a healthy, productive work environment.

 

Champion Continuous Learning:

 

• Encourage a culture of continuous learning by promoting training opportunities, coding challenges, and knowledge-sharing sessions within the team.

• Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies, sharing insights with the team and integrating new knowledge into projects.

 

Coordinate and Manage:

 

• Participate in and contribute to strategic planning meetings, providing insights into team capabilities and technical feasibility.

• Monitor project progress, identifying potential roadblocks and coordinating with management to adjust resources or timelines as needed.

• Work closely with engineering managers to plan, prioritize, and delegate tasks across the team, ensuring alignment with project goals and deadlines.

 

Ensure Quality and Best Practices:

 

• Ensure that the team adheres to coding standards, version control practices, and testing protocols to maintain high-quality software delivery.

• Implement and enforce best practices for software development, including code reviews and pair programming

 

What are we looking for?

 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience with a focus on Microsoft technologies and cloud computing.
  • Proven experience in complex software projects, including architecture and design, from concept to production.
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Strong proficiency in C#, .NET Core, and the Microsoft technology stack.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services, including App Services, Functions, Storage, SQL Database, and AKS.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and RESTful APIs.
  • Proficiency in containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
  • Knowledge of relational databases (SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB, etc.).
  • Good conceptual knowledge and hands-on experience on agile software delivery methodologies
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end testing.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic and changing environment.
