Business Law and Regulatory Legal Counsel (Manager)

 

  

What this position is about - Purpose:

 

The position is offering you the chance to be part of the Legal Department of JTI Romania, headquartered in Bucharest.

As a Business Law and Regulatory Legal Counsel, you will provide legal support to JTI Romania management and departments on diverse legal matters.  

You will handle a large array of domestic and international contracts, support the company’s functions with the identification and appropriate management of legal risks and opportunities, provide practical and actionable legal solutions, covering areas such as: marketing and sale of tobacco products, regulatory matters, competition law, legal trainings, take an active part in the development and management of projects in the area of legal.

What will you do - Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide full-scope contractual legal advice and assistance to internal clients, preparing, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of contracts, ensuring compliance with the legal provisions and internal policies & procedures and protection and achievement of the company’s rights and interests; help handle any incidents in relation to the performance or termination of contracts; prepare, amend, update, standardize template contracts, responding to the above-mentioned requisites.
  • Help the company’s functions operate, design and conduct their specific activities in compliance with applicable laws and internal policies & procedures, providing needed legal advice, opinions, daily guidance, reviews, trainings and presentations to this end; support all business functions to find the optimal ways to execute the company's strategies and goals, to achieve the business objectives and sustain business growth, providing practical and actionable legal solutions.
  • Advise on any matters concerning tobacco and related products' existing regulations, provide dedicated support in matters related to regulatory proposals/initiatives concerning tobacco and related products, issue legal opinions, analyze draft laws and other normative acts, prepare and revise documents / positions in the matters mentioned above.
  • Legal research on relevant topics of general or specific interest for the company; provide accurate and timely reports to internal stakeholders on legislative updates.                          

 

 

The skills you’ll need:

 

 You as a professional have:

 

  • a Bachelor’s degree in Law with strong academic performance
  • very good knowledge of Romanian and EU Law, with solid professional experience in civil law, competition, consumer protection and data protection laws and regulatory area
  • at least 5 years work experience in a multinational environment as a legal advisor or lawyer
  • excellent command of written and spoken English language
  • deep understanding of legal and commercial risks
