Country Procurement Manager & SEA+ Cluster Category Manager

 

The position exists to lead entity procurement operations and manage the procurement activities for the relevant category within own cluster. This role is responsible for leading the local Procurement organization and operations, acting as set category liaison for Global Category Managers, and participating in financial planning and deliver benefits/value within their perimeter of action. The incumbent is also expected to drive cost optimization and continuous improvement initiatives, apply Category Management principles, and develop and coordinate Regional/Local  implementation plans as per Global/Regional directions. Furthermore, the incumbent will be in charge of ensuring business connectivity and fostering collaborative business partnership with specific stakeholders, Supplier Relationship Management with key regional suppliers in full coordination with Global/Regional directions, ensuring Regional/Cluster alignment and compliance with strategies and being a role model in compliance and ethics.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

 

  • Procurement Strategy: 
    • The incumbent is responsible for the creation and execution of the local procurement strategy to ensure optimum value is delivered to the business and ensure delivery of all core business objectives through  strategic procurement innovation as well as for procurement activities of the appointed business category (General services and Travel) within own cluster. 
    • Aligning local and Regional/Global procurement initiatives and operational implementation and developments, to ensure optimum delivery for the entity. Ensure two-way best practice sharing beween the local entity and HQ.
    • Acts as set category liaison for Global Category Managers. Rolls-out appropriate strategies setforth by the Global Category Director, provides sound direction for appointed category and ensures close collaboration with all cluster stakeholers. 
    • Ensures Regional/Cluster alignment and compliance with strategies. Applies Category Management principles, and develop and coordinate Regional/Local  implementation plans as per Global/Regional directions.
    • Works in close collaboration with Global Category Director/ Procurement Cluster Manager to ensure global startegy considers local requirements and that suppliers' list is managed in the most efficient & effective manner for the cluster.
    • Participates in financial planning and deliver benefits/value within their perimeter of action
  • People Management: 
    • Ensures that a clear succession plan is in place for all members of the Indirect Procurement team.
    • Drives motivation and individual development in the team to ensure optimum delivery from each team member.
  • Suppliers' Management: 

    • Identifies and manages regional/local suppliers' pool.

    • Negotiates strategic contracts and ensures optimum and sustainable supply conditions.

    • Recommends timely strategic decisions where relevant to prevent procurement inefficiencies.

    • Ensures sustainability of supply and effective supplier relationship management throughout the supply chain.

    • Demonstrates ability to challenge status quo, proposes and runs projects that will add value to both Procurement and business functions.

    • Provides necessary support to Global or Regional procurement teams for implementation. 

    • Manages SRM with key Regional suppliers in full coordination with Global/Regional directions.

    • Supports Global Category Directors to build Innovation & Sustainability strategy with Global suppliers and promotes any ideas that could represent a competitive advantage for JTI.

  • Business Partnership: 

    • Ensure business connectivity and foster collaborative business partnership with specific stakeholders.

    • Focuses on demonstrating value of Business Partnership, by developing a customer-oriented approach.

    • Aligns strategy with key business partners and ensures it meets Business' priorities.

    • Establishes alignment and effective communication among procurement organization, business partners and suppliers.

    • Takes preventive actions to avoid supply issues and resolves problems in due time. 

    • Assumes responsibilities for additional projects, tasks as assigned by his/her superior and reflect core behaviors in all aspects of work.

  • Market Intelligence: 

    • Applies best practice and effective communication within the procurement process by utilizing latest models and taking necessary actions for areas of improvement.

    • Finds alternative ideas, solutions in securing best commercial conditions and value for the company including extensive external benchmarking. 

    • Shares Category intelligence, identifies trends and opportunities.

    • Applies best practices in procurement process management by utilizing latest models and takes necessary actions for areas of improvement.

    • Conducts supply risk assessments, builds contingency plans, finds alternative ideas, solutions in securing best conditions for the company including extensive market research and proactive sourcing of innovative suppliers. 

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

  • A Native Thai speaker (able to read, write and speak in the language proficiently)
  • Holds a University degree and/or MCIPS (Charted Institute of Purchasing & Supply)
  • Has 5 years of Purchasing and Logistics area experience preferably in a multinational company (FMCG), and at least 2 years of team leading and category management experience.
  • Expertise in defining procurement strategy aligned with core business objectives.
  • Knowledgeable in development and execution of purchasing policies and procedures to a high standard as well as a good knowledge of supplier relationship management (SRM) process
  • A strategic thinker with good decision-making skills
  • Has effective Negotiations, Communication, and Interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates excellent financial analysis acumen and strong business environment knowledge
  • Excellent Leadership skills, and ability to effectively manage internal and external parties
  • Strong system utilization and analysis techniques for Purchasing and reporting activities
  • Proficient in MS Office tools and SAP
