EHS PROJECT ENGINEER
The EHS Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring the effective implementation of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards throughout the lifecycle of projects. The role focuses on risk identification, regulatory compliance, and proactive EHS measures to support safe, sustainable operations. The main goal is to reduce incidents, safeguard the environment, and cultivate a culture aligned with our values and legal obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report EHS performance indicators as per internal requirements and applicable legal obligations, including communication with relevant authorities.
- Ensure all project team members and contractors are trained in Contractor Safety Management and align with JTI EHS requirements throughout project execution.
- Implement operational controls to maintain a safe working environment, particularly on the contractor side; conduct routine safety inspections and audits to identify and address risks.
- Proactively support the project team in identifying and mitigating potential EHS risks early in the project lifecycle to prevent incidents.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and environmental events; ensure corrective actions are driven and lessons learned are optimally communicated across teams.
Who we are looking for – Requirements:
- High technical school degree - Specialization in EHS or certified as Mobile Construction Site Safety Coordinator (HG 300/2006)
- Risk Evaluation certification required
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in EHS within industrial or construction environments
- Proficient in English & Romanian (spoken and written)
Other skills and knowledge:
- In-depth knowledge of EHS legislation and standards
- Strong risk assessment and incident investigation capabilities
- Effective communication and training delivery skills
- Proactive attitude and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in project teams
