Sub-Assembly Coordinator

Position Summary:

The Sub‑Assembly Coordinator safeguards production stability and equipment reliability by orchestrating the governance, readiness, and quality of all sub‑assemblies. Acting as the critical link between maintenance execution, spare parts governance, and production needs, the role ensures that sub‑assemblies are not only available but also compliant, safe, and fit for purpose.

This position is designed to anticipate requirements, prevent early‑failure recurrence, and uphold safety and quality standards through disciplined inspection, defect management, refurbishment control, and structured communication. By applying IWS practices and enforcing governance protocols, the Sub‑Assembly Coordinator enables proactive planning and avoids reactive firefighting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure sub‑assembly inspections are executed in accordance with defined standards in order to identify all defects, ensure accurate defect logging, and confirm that refurbishment orders fully reflect the actual technical condition before execution.
  • Ensure sub‑assembly readiness through risk‑based prioritization and monitoring of expected versus actual component lifetime in order to identify early‑failure trends and prevent unplanned production impact.
  • Ensure structured communication with Maintenance Leads across all cells and ensure findings are reflected in SIMPTWW and maintenance tasks in order to enable proactive planning, aligned execution, and shared visibility of risks and countermeasures.
  • Ensure all sub‑assembly activities comply with safety, quality, and technical standards, acting as a release gate to prevent non‑compliant sub‑assemblies from being issued for use and escalating deviations as required.
  • Ensure the sub‑assembly workshop, tools, and facilities are maintained in proper working condition, establish and sustain 5S3R standards, and act as owner of IWS Standard Work Practices (SWP) related to workshop and tooling in order to support safe, efficient, and professional execution.
  • Perform any other tasks commissioned by the line manager. Compliance with EHS procedures, labour law, corporate guidance, internal regulations and work performance instructions.
  • Understand health and safety aspects of the work, identify the hazards, assess the risks, and ensure that control measures are implemented in order to maintain a healthy and safe workplace for employees under their supervision.
  • Ensure that employees under their supervision receive appropriate health & safety training and required qualifications, and are competent to do the work safely.
  • Know Legal and JTI health and safety requirements associated with the work hazards and implement requirements which fall within their authority and within their area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that supervised employees always demonstrate safe behavior, never violate health and safety rules, report incidents and near misses, and report and eliminate identified unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Actively demonstrate commitment to health and safety, lead by example, and take immediate steps to correct unsafe workplace conditions or behaviors.

Job Qualifcations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years in maintenance, technical support, or workshop operations; prior exposure to cigarette maker/packer equipment is a strong advantage.
  • Solid command of IWS principles (DDS, SIMPTWW, standardization, prevention mindset).
  • Proficiency in SAP for maintenance, materials management, and refurbishment tracking.
  • Strong understanding of sub‑assembly lifecycle, refurbishment processes, and failure mechanisms.
  • Good command of English, with ability to coordinate and influence stakeholders effectively even without direct authority.
  • Structured problem‑solving and risk‑prevention mindset.
  • Ability to balance governance with hands‑on technical execution.
  • Collaborative approach to cross‑functional alignment and workshop readiness.
