Consumer and Trade Engagement Manager, Azerbaijan
Role purpose:
As the most senior marketing role in Azerbaijan – the flagship market in the Caucasus Cluster – you will be responsible for driving best‑in‑class execution of consumer and trade activation programs across categories, delivering meaningful, consistent, and high‑impact brand experiences in the market. The role plays a key part in accelerating consumer engagement by translating cluster strategies into effective, market‑specific activation plans and ensuring their flawless execution.
Through close collaboration with internal stakeholders, cluster teams, and external partners, this position ensures that activation investments deliver measurable business impact, strengthen brand equity, and build long‑term adult consumer loyalty.
Azerbaijan is a benchmark market in the cluster – delivering sustained leadership in RMC (Ready Made Cigarette) and serving as a reference market across JTI for RRP (Reduced-Risk Products) activation, including Own Retail and omnichannel journey design.
What you’ll do:
- Own the market activation strategy & plan: convert cluster priorities into annual/quarterly activation roadmaps, channel plans, and investment choices.
- Lead omnichannel execution: orchestrate integrated consumer and trade activations across offline + digital touchpoints, ensuring consistent brand experience.
- Drive RRP activation leadership: lead activation across key touchpoints (incl. Own Retail, 1:1/guided trial, ambassador/promoter ecosystems, leisure/lifestyle activations, and awareness-driving activities where permitted).
- Set standards and governance: define activation guidelines, toolkits, and ways of working (incl. ARCI) to increase speed, clarity, and execution quality.
- Manage performance and optimization: track KPIs, evaluate impact, and continuously improve effectiveness, efficiency, and budget utilization.
- Lead the team and partners: develop and coach a 7-person team and manage agencies/vendors to deliver compliant, high-quality execution.
Skills you'll need:
Experience
- 3+ years in marketing activation / consumer engagement / trade marketing / marketing (in an FMCG environment).
- Proven ownership of multi-channel activation portfolios (offline and/or digital) with significant budgets.
- Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams and agency ecosystems.
- Experience building consumer journeys (acquisition → onboarding → retention) and performance measurement.
Functional skills
- Strong activation strategy, integrated planning, and project/program management.
- Strong commercial acumen: budget governance, ROI mindset, performance dashboards.
- Deep understanding of trade dynamics and executional drivers in-market.
Leadership behaviors

- Hands-on, high standards, and comfortable operating in ambiguity.

Languages & mobility
- English required; Russian and Azerbaijani are a strong advantage.
