Global Customs & Excise Manager - Amstelveen, Netherlands


Purpose of the Role:

This position exists to support the Global Customs & Excise Director in specific, global, and cross-regional projects regarding Customs and Excise Tax (C&E) within the JTI group.

This role requires a good understanding of the JTI operations as well as a sound understanding of the relevant C&E regulations. It requires monitoring worldwide changes of C&E laws, related regulations, and free trade agreements in order to proactively bring forward supply chain and IDT governance optimization or solutions/ideas which can benefit the JTI group.

Also in this role, you will be supporting the Global Customs & Excise Director in providing support and tax technical advice on C&E matters to the business in the Americas region. 


Main Responsibilities:

  • To support specific, global, and cross-region projects regarding C&E within the JTI Group. To assist in the rollout and improvement of IDT governance. To contribute to operation reviews in order to propose among other processes & procedures enhancements
  • Maintain tax technical knowledge skills in general and with a special focus on the Americas region in order to advise business partners with respect to C&E matters. Accountable for providing supply chain optimizations and viable operational solutions for C&E matters  
  • Maintain excellent relationships with the regional customs & excise directors and the various business partners in order to be fully involved on the C&E side of the various operations. Where applicable maintain good relationships with C&E officials so that C&E matters are dealt with in a proper & prompt manner
  • Participate in compliance reviews, JSOX, and financial reporting
  • Assist in C&E audits conducted by authorities, and provide recommendations to entity management and Global Tax colleagues with respect to various tax issues


Skills & Experience:

  • Academic combined with practical training License in economics/law
  • > 3 years
  • English, genuine computer skills plus SAP, Government systems understanding
