Department: Finance & Accounting - Tax
Location: Amman

Purpose of the Role:

The Tax Manager drives the on-going tax compliance for both direct and indirect tax within JTI Jordan, covering the market and factory entities. This requires deep technical knowledge and experience of Jordanian tax law, proficiency in tax accounting and the ability to work cross-functionally. In addition this position is instrumental in providing technical cross functional tax support to Corporate Affairs related matters. 

 

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Actively manage tax audits and any other requests received from the tax authorities.
  • Monitor changes in external tax environment and operating environment and perform impact assessment of changes on ongoing tax compliance. Clearly articulate impact of change and propose corresponding action.
  • Critically assess level of current tax compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage Indirect Tax manual and ensure it is kept up-to-date and key changes in regulation are communicated to all relevant stake holders.
  • Provide close technical tax support to CA&C in all tax related matters, especially during the time of Excise Tax increases as well for key advocacy matters.
  • Provide technical tax support to the business on strategic and operational level.
  • To co-ordinate Direct tax matters according to Global Tax strategy with all relevant stakeholders.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Chartered Accountant, University degree (Business, Finance, Economics),Tax certifications.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience post University.
  • Tax Advisory within major Accounting Firm (Manager / Senior Manager Level).
  • Tax experience (Excise Tax and Custom Duties) within the Tobacco Industry is a plus.
  • Chartered Accountant with extensive tax knowledge and experience in tax accounting. Mastery of Local GAAP and IFRS and deep understanding of differences between the two accounting standards in regards to tax accounting.
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral, ability to clearly and effectively communicate with different levels of management (including senior management).
  • Ability to identify tax issues, assess implications and clearly articulate proposed actions.
