This position is responsible for the anticipation and assessment of change in the political, legislative, and regulatory environment which create commercial risk and competitive opportunity for the company in the market, and for the development and implementation of strategies and programs which minimize risk and maximize advantage in a responsible, proactive manner.

The incumbent is also responsible for the development of JTI Jordan communication strategy with particular focus on internal and external communication, employee volunteerism and corporate philanthropy programs.


Main Areas of Responsibility:


- Monitor and assess political, legislative and regulatory developments to anticipate changes or trends in the Operating Environment that will create commercial risk and competitive advantage. Ensure that these developments are communicated immediately to the Corporate Affairs and Communications Director.

- Develop a thorough understanding of the political and legislative process, including the mechanisms through which draft laws and other regulatory instruments are designed, introduced and debated. Identify the specific timing and channels through which JTI can present its views and positions, or through which JTI can provide practical, meaningful solutions in a responsible, proactive manner.

- Develop, recommend and manage approved political and regulatory strategies to ensure that the company’s positions, views and potential solutions are presented in a timely, effective and consistent manner.

- Create, develop and maintain an up-to-date stakeholder map for the market, which identifies key political and regulatory stakeholders, as well as to widen the existing stakeholder base in the areas that are crucial to JTI business in Jordan.

- Develop and maintain working contacts with mid- and high-level officials relevant to Corporate Affairs & Comunications Director's responsibilities..

- Corporate Philanthropy – implementation of the corporate philanthropy strategy including liaison with JTI Jordan partners to drive delivery against agreed programme objectives.

- Employee Volunteerism – working with internal stakeholders, co-ordinate the employee volunteerism programme. This includes but is not limited to, management and coordination of the engagement calendar and alignment of the programme with internal company values.

- Media relations – management of JTI media enquiries, placement of JTI Jordan content to secure earned media coverage for JTI Jordan.

- Content Development – development of JTI Jordan content for JTI owned channels as well as channel appropriate content such as media releases, web and social media content to secure JTI Jordan earned media. Where appropriate this may necessitate content mining of JTI global content and adjustment of such content for local channels and audiences.

- Develop JTI Jordan internal and external communication strategy.



- Multi-year experience in a similar role with a large international company, or significant local firm, is highly desirable; Government Relations experience strongly preferred.  Understanding of commercial environment in Jordan; familiarity with issues faced by multinational corporations operating in Jordan, and the tobacco industry in particular

- Superb command of written, spoken Arabic and English, fluent use of computers and software packages.
