Tax Manager, Central Asia and Mongolia (CAM) 

 

About the role

We are looking for a Tax Manager CAM to support JTI’s tax function across the CAM cluster, including JTI MN, JTI UZ and representative offices in Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia. The role will focus mainly on CAM cluster activities, while also providing backup support for Caucasus cluster tax activities and projects.

In this role, you will lead the implementation of JTI tax strategies across cluster countries, covering corporate tax, indirect taxes, excise, customs, transfer pricing and tax risk management. You will work closely with Global Tax, local Finance teams, external consultants and tax authorities to ensure compliance, manage risks and support business initiatives.

 

What you will do

  • Manage tax strategy and business models

    • Review and update business models across cluster countries
    • Monitor legislative and business changes and lead required adaptations
    • Prepare requests and obtain clarifications from tax consultants or official bodies
    • Provide tax recommendations for current and planned business activities
  • Oversee tax administration and compliance

    • Review and control processes related to tax compliance
    • Prepare and update tax accounting policies where needed
    • Ensure execution and control of relevant JSOX controls, walkthroughs and reconciliations
    • Participate in transfer pricing reporting and pricing methodology processes
    • Supervise timely review and approval of tax returns
  • Support tax audits and appeals

    • Coordinate processes during scheduled and cameral tax audits
    • Support local accounting teams in responding to tax authority requests
    • Interact with tax authorities to ensure timely provision of information and explanations
    • Prepare objections, complaints and supporting documentation when required
    • Work with Legal and external tax advisors on administrative and judicial proceedings
  • Monitor tax legislation and advise the business

    • Track changes in tax legislation, court practice and official guidance
    • Assess the impact of changes on JTI processes and documentation flows
    • Provide timely updates and recommendations to management
  • Participate in projects and cross-functional initiatives

    • Support tax projects aimed at mitigating risks and adapting to legislative changes
    • Advise on tax implications in cross-functional business projects
    • Provide information and reports to management and headquarters on tax matters, including CFC reporting, deferred tax calculations and transfer pricing documentation
  • Collaborate and share expertise

    • Support the Cluster Tax Manager in organizing tax team activities
    • Share knowledge and support team members in delivering high-quality work
    • Manage additional tax-related tasks and projects as needed

 

Who we are looking for

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax or a related field
  • At least five years of tax experience
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Tax legislation in Central Asia and Mongolia
    • Transfer pricing rules and documentation requirements
    • International taxation principles
    • Corporate tax, indirect tax, excise and customs matters
    • Local and international accounting and financial reporting standards
  • Experience working with tax authorities, external consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to assess tax risks and provide practical business recommendations
  • Strong project management skills and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Confident user of MS Office
  • Experience with 1C and SAP is preferred
  • Fluency in Russian and English is required; knowledge of additional languages would be an advantage
