Finance Associate

 

We are looking for a Finance Associate for a position located in Alger, Algeria and reporting to Financial Controller Manager Northern & Western Africa.

 

The Finance Associate will support the Finance Manager in delivering Algeria market and North-West Africa cluster headquartered in Casablanca with finance ownership and expertise mainly in financial planning & analysis, tax & accounting, controlling, and operational support.

 

Responsibilities:

 

Planning & Reporting 

Algeria Performance:

  • Responsible for delivering financial planning and forecasting activities across a rolling 3-year horizon, including sales, pricing, gross-to-net, P&L, in order to support strategic business decision-making, performance management, and risk assessment. 

  • Act as a trusted business partner to cross-functional stakeholders by providing accurate, timely, and value-added financial analysis to support commercial and operational decision-making.

  • Key responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting business performance analysis and identifying risks and opportunities

  2. Challenging assumptions and contributing to strategic initiatives

  3. Coordinating planning inputs and ensuring alignment across functions

  4. Driving financial visibility on business initiatives and market performance

  5. Analyze and explain variances versus Plan, Latest Estimate, and prior year, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial data while providing actionable insights to management.

  6. Support the monitoring and continuous update of the annual operating plan and rolling forecasts throughout the year, including:

  7. Contribute to cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives as assigned by management.

  8. Demonstrate professionalism, proactiveness, and a continuous improvement in mindset in all aspects of work. 

  • ENTITY: Perform review and planning for the local entity  

Accounting & Tax

  • Assist in handle accounting transactions of local entity in accordance with IFRS & local requirements. Review postings made for Algeria market and local entity by KPMG. Ensure completeness of monthly closing tasks 

  • Support financial processes related to the daily running of the office  

  • Submit local tax queries, submission, etc.  

  • Support interactions with local bank relationships in coordination with N-W Africa Treasury 

  • Ensure up-to-date information on local tax regulation / changes 

  • Support interactions with the relationship with local statutory Auditor 

Controls

  • support Algeria operations are run in line with JTI policies and operating guidelines, as well as local regulation 

  • support close follow up and compliance and action plan for the entity control 

Credit & Receivables

  • Monitor the collection status for Algeria customers, liase with JTI SA Credit team as necessary 

Other Operational

  • Support follows up of Letter of Credits to ensure continuous shipments in line with the sales plan 

  • Ensure monthly M&S budget tracking 

  • Support Algeria market with other projects as necessary 

 

Requirements:

 

  • University degree in Accounting/Finance or other related field. Professional qualification such as ACCA / CIMA is a plus
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years working experience in accounting/finance. Working experience in multinational environment is a plus.
  • French & English required, Arabic is a plus
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards and reporting principles
  • Computer fluency in MS applications and Accounting Software (Advanced Excel, SAP FI & CO is a plus)
