Location: Head Office Addis Ababa
Department: Marketing & Sales
Reports to: Commercial Planning & Effectiveness (CP&E) Manager
Employment Type: Full-time

Position purpose

We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analytics & Demand Planning Specialist to support our Commercial Planning & Effectiveness Manager. This role combines advanced data analytics with short-term demand forecasting to ensure optimal stock availability, insightful commercial reporting, and efficient inventory management within Ethiopia’s fast-paced and data‑scarce retail environment.

You will transform raw market and field data into actionable insights, develop automated dashboards, and enhance forecasting accuracy to help drive commercial excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Short-Term Demand Forecasting

  • Prepare and update 4–12 week forecasts by SKU, channel, and key TMR.
  • Utilize consumption indicators such as ADS, audits, drop size, and regional performance.
  • Apply analytical models and scenario planning for improved forecast quality.

 Data Analytics & Visualization

  • Develop Power BI and Excel dashboards to support commercial decision-making.
  • Convert raw datasets into clear insights for Sales, Planning, and Management teams.
  • Analyze retail trends, TMR productivity, and geographic consumption patterns.

 Forecast Performance Monitoring

  • Track weekly forecast accuracy and performance trends.
  • Highlight variances and identify risks or opportunities.

Stock Allocation Support

  • Prepare weekly stock allocation templates based on commercial rules and priorities.
  • Ensure fair and strategic allocation in line with CP&E guidance.

Allocation vs Actual Reconciliation

  • Reconcile allocated vs dispatched volumes weekly.
  • Report deviations and recommend corrective actions.

Risk Identification & Mitigation

  • Monitor field feedback to flag early risks such as stockouts.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to address issues proactively.

 Continuous Improvement

  • Support automation initiatives, data quality improvements, and special projects.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Supply Chain, or related fields.
  • Certifications in analytics, BI tools, or forecasting are a plus.

Experience

  • 3–5 years experience in demand planning, data analytics, commercial analytics, or supply chain (FMCG preferred).
  • Experience with dashboard development, forecasting models, and analytics in dynamic markets (Ethiopia/East Africa) is strongly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, dashboards) and proficiency in Power BI.
  • Ability to interpret retail and field data and derive actionable insights.
  • High attention to detail and strong data quality standards.
  • Ability to automate reports and improve data workflows.
  • Effective communication across Sales, Planning, and Supply Chain functions.
  • Adaptability in a fast-changing, indirect-distribution environment.
