Job Vacancy: Canteen service associate

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Department: Office Administration

Reporting to : Office administration manager

Position Purpose

We are looking for a Canteen Services Supervisor to oversee the efficient, hygienic, and high-quality operation of the company canteen and coffee corners across all locations. The role is responsible for ensuring food safety, service quality, vendor performance, and overall employee satisfaction while maintaining compliance with health, safety, and internal standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Canteen Operations & Service Management

  • Oversee daily canteen and coffee corner operations across all company locations.
  • Ensure smooth, timely, and authorized meal service delivery.
  • Monitor meal eligibility and validate daily consumption records.
  • Verify supplier invoices and payments based on consolidated consumption reports.
  • Ensure continuous availability of food, water, electricity, and related services.

Food Safety, Hygiene & Quality Control

  • Enforce food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in line with regulations and company requirements.
  • Inspect incoming food items for quality, cleanliness, and compliance.
  • Ensure food is sourced from accredited suppliers only.
  • Monitor proper food handling, storage, rotation, and cleanliness to prevent contamination and wastage.

Equipment & Facility Maintenance

  • Ensure proper use, upkeep, and timely maintenance of canteen equipment and facilities.
  • Conduct routine inspections and report maintenance needs related to hygiene, drainage, and equipment condition.
  • Ensure canteen and coffee areas remain safe, clean, and fully functional.

Vendor & Contract Coordination

  • Coordinate and monitor outsourced canteen and coffee service providers.
  • Ensure vendors comply with contractual, hygiene, and service quality standards.
  • Work closely with Procurement to support vendor sourcing, contract management, and performance monitoring.

Customer Service & Stakeholder Support

  • Address feedback, complaints, and suggestions from employees and stakeholders.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality and user satisfaction.
  • Coordinate catering and refreshment services for meetings, trainings, and company events.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate operational records, inspection logs, and service documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, health regulations, and audit requirements.
  • Support internal and external inspections by providing accurate data and reports.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, Food & Beverage Management, Nutrition, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hotel, canteen, or cafeteria management.
  • Certification in Food Safety, Hygiene, or Catering Services is an added advantage.
  • Basic training in Facility Management or Customer Service is desirable.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
  • Ability to manage multi-location canteen operations.
  • Experience working with outsourced service providers and vendors.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • Good computer skills; advanced Excel knowledge is an advantage.
