EHS Manager (m/f/d)
Position:
The role is to lead the Swiss EHS organization covering all aspects of manufacturing operations and market. The incumbent develops local environmental and safety strategies in alignment with Corporate EHS. They detect risks and weak-points and gives clear guidance to the management. The incumbent ensures that the organization comply with all legal requirements and JTI standards and represents JTI Dagmersellen towards relevant authorities.

As the EHS Manager, you will be responsible for…
- Overall Environment, Health and Safety: Fulfill the role of the Management Representative for the Environmental-, Health & Safety-Management systems of the entity Switzerland and lead the EHS related line- and x-functional organizations. Manage and nominate the legally required EHS related responsible persons in the organization in order to meet Swiss legal requirements.
- Implementation and coordination of Corporate/Local EHS standards, programs and data: Manage the implementation and maintenance of the standards and ensure user-friendly, updated management system for the Swiss Entity in Dagmersellen (market & factory). Coordinate the implementation of EHS programs, review and monitor actual situation and trends versus the set targets to continuously improve the level of EHS awareness in close cooperation with the other process owners.
- Foster awareness and a health and safety culture: Perform internal safety audits and safety dialogues on a continuous base and informs the process owners about the compliance to all legal aspects related to EHS to improve awareness and the health and safety culture. Foster know-how and best practice transfer, collect industry and legal intelligence information. Ensure that JTI employees receive the support and training as appropriate to undertake risk assessments. Apply EHS Pillar DMS/SWPs, track KPIs and ensure the PDCA drumbeat.
- Compliance with legal, company-wide and audit requirements: Ensure that internal and external safety regulations and procedures are up to date. Coordinate and undertake internal audit functions in terms of environmental performance and compliance (Environmental Impact Assessment). Maintain local EHS legal register such as LexPlus and ENHESA and follow up on legal and permit requirements.
- Environment, Health and Safety and continuous improvement: Maintain the local legal EHS register and regularly communicate within functional areas. Overall responsibility to ensure safety and security according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and ISO 45001 and support continuous improvement process. Ensure training and instructions for all department employees to minimize accidents, department illness rate and therefore factory costs.
Requirements:
- Higher education (university degree level or equivalent) in technical profession or engineer with emphasis on environment and health techniques and as safety advisor. Any local Swiss certification, like: ASGS, NEBOSH, Auditor for ISO 14001, 45001 or 50001, certification, First Responder Stufe 1,2,3 IVR or Gefahrgutbeauftragter ADR / RID are considered a plus.
- Solid experience in environmental management and - system in an industrial environment, practical auditor experience, preferably from FMCG. Profound experience in safety programs.
- Sound knowledge of EHS management principles, technical, legal and regulatory EHS knowledge and waste management as well as in maintaining and enhancing management systems according ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001.
- Outstanding presentation and project management skills.
- Fluent in English and German, both spoken and written.
