People & Culture Business Partner, USA

 

About the Role 

This role serves as a strategic local business partner, providing guidance and support on various People & Culture activities, including Talent Management, Learning & Development, Talent Attraction etc. in addition to handling global projects at local level.

The role also requires being a trusted People & Culture advisor to the RMC Manufacturing leadership team in Danville, working closely with the People & Culture Director, and ensuring alignment with company’s objectives and compliance with local laws & regulations.
This role allows to develop a high level of interaction with different stakeholders, a solid exposure to local & regional leadership teams, and an enriching experience in a dynamic environment including Leaf, Ready-Made Cigarettes Manufacturing & Market operations.

 

What you will do

 

Talent Management, including Learning & Development

 

  • Drive Local Talent Calibration and Local Succession Planning processes, in full collaboration with local leadership team and line managers, as necessary
  • Promote talent management awareness across the organization and provide necessary trainings to Employees & Line Managers
  • Initiate and drive the completion of the annual Performance Appraisal process at different stages, including the Development Planning cycle
  • Run annual training needs analysis and identify best Learning & Development activities, accordingly (including global L&D programs)
  • Guide employees and line managers through effective learning and development solutions according to individual development goals and share recommendations, as necessary.

 

Employer Branding and Talent Acquisition

 

  • Participate in defining JTI's Employer Branding strategy and drive opportunities to attract talent and increase external visibility of JTI as employer of Choice (i.e. career fairs & events)
  • Guide Line Managers through recruitment activities, by sharing knowledge and providing support, as needed (i.e. on job descriptions, job requisitions, interviews & feedback etc.). This is in coordination with GBS Talent Advisor 
  • Initiate and run the different steps of the onboarding process, engaging with different stakeholders (i.e. Rewards, GBS, Line Manager etc.), and ensuring proper communication flow
  • Implement Make It Bright (MIB) Program in the USA, building JTI brand equity

 

Diversity & Inclusion

 

  • Participate in leading the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee across the USA and oversee the progress across the committee’s 4 pillars
  • Ensure all People & Culture processes and activities are in line with our DEI principles and complying with Equal Opportunities laws
  • Handle the necessary preparation for the “Global Equality Standard” certificate, including making recommendations and preparing data/ evidence through the process

 

People & Culture Project

 

  • Handle the implementation of global People & Culture projects/ initiatives at local level, while ensuring an effective communication and coordination with HQ and local employees. Projects include Top Employer, Employee Engagement Survey, Inspired by You etc.
  • Participate in leading and implementing local People & Culture projects and initiatives in the USA, in line with ASP objectives

 

General Support & Guidance

 

  • Manage People & Culture operations through relevant processes (i.e. presenting offer letters, conducting terminations, onboarding & offboarding etc.) in addition to streamlining work processes & building best practices
  • Develop and update People & Culture related policies and handbooks, if and as necessary
  • Work closely with the People & Culture Director to deliver on presentations, reports, leadership meetings etc., in addition to proactively making recommendations and sharing ideas, as needed
  • Be the point of contact with the Global Mobility vendor to initiate and track the relocation and immigration processes of employees arriving to Danville Leaf Business (local or international assignees)
  • Act as the point of contact for employees’ enquiries and ensure providing necessary guidance and support

 

People Management

 

  • Coach, develop and mentor team members or any indirect report(s). This would also include providing guidance and feedback to achieve optimum results based on agreed objectives


 

Who We Are Looking For

 

A dynamic, passionate, and result-oriented person, with:

 

  • Minimum of 5 years of HR experience, reflecting a strong People & Culture generalist profile
  • Experience in working with GBS on various HR activities (Employee Lifecycle, Talent Attraction, Talent Management)
  • Excellent working knowledge of HR systems (i.e. SAP, SuccessFactors)
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with proven experience of cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience demonstrating ability to communicate and influence efficiently across the organization
  • Proven experience in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Fluency in English language
  • High integrity and sense of responsibility
  • Proven experience of effective working in a culturally diverse environment
